Urban Scale:

Change over time:

Two stitched sanborn maps show a growth of culture.  The earliest sanborn map of 1910 shows the beginning of the Martin Drive Neighborhood.  The largest industry located within the neighborhood at that time included the cold spring barns.  These barns were used as storage buildings for Milwaukee's earliest street car system, beginning sometime between 1892 and 1917.  As Milwaukee's outlying areas became more populated the neighborhood grew denser.  Later, around the late 70s, some industries such as the trolley system shrunk and grew extinct, others grew.  Harley Davidson and a chain grocery store, Kohl's Grocery built and expanded.
